Hurumanu green house effect experiment

AIM: TO LOOK AT CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT.

    THE GREENHOUSE GASES EXPLAINED.

    The Greenhouse Effect experiment

    Materials

    1. 1 plastic bottle
    2. 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda and Citric Acid
    3. 1 heat lamp
    4. 1 Thermometer
    5. 100 ml of water
    6. 1 rubber

    Procedure

    1. Add 100 mL of water to each of the beakers.
    2. Prepare your lamps. Set them up next to each other with the necks angled so they will just fit over the tops of the bottles. Turn them on so they are ready.
    3. Add Baking Soda mix to one of the beakers, and immediately cover both beakers with cling a rubber bung and thermometer. A tight seal around the edge will work best, and make sure thermometers are left visible so you can record the temperature.
    4. Have students record the starting temperature – it should be the same in both beakers.
    5. Turn the bottles so the thermometer is visible.
    6. Record the temperature in both beakers every 5 minutes for 45 minutes or until the temperatures stabilize. In the end, have students answer questions at the bottom of their datasheets.

Conclusion:The bottle with the co2 gas made the balloon blow up more than the other bottles because

    Description

Carbon dioxide is a colorless gas with a density of about 60% of dry air.

    Hurumanu Fossil fuels

    Mining Fossil Fuels

What Fossil Fuels are mined? Mining is used to extract solid fossil fuels, such as coal, digging, scraping, or otherwise exposing buried resources.

How are they mined? Coal is preserved by the earth in a rock layer called a coal seam; mining is the only way to remove it whether it's near the surface or deep underground.

Where are they mined? fossil fuel Any fuel — such as coal, petroleum (crude oil) or natural gas that has developed within the Earth over millions of years from the decayed remains of bacteria, plants or animals.

    Activity: Cookie Mining

On the sheet provided you need to make two drawings of your cookie.
    1. Looking down at your cookie.
    2. From Side on -  of the imaginary habitat that will live on the top of the cookie. ( trees, bushes, flax, sea, etc)

    Material:
    cookies
    toothpick
    plate

      Steps:
The teacher will give you a cookie
Put the cookie ion the plate
Pick the chocolate out of the cookie with the toothpick

Conclusion: When fossil fuses get puled out of the ground every thing around it will get killed over time.

    MATERIALS

    1. paper
    2. pin
    3. cups
    4. tape
    5. pencil

    STEPS

    1. Get all of the stuff
    2. Tape the sticks together
    3.  Tape the cups to the end of the stick
    4. Pin the stick to the pencil

    Instructions:
    • Go to the measuring place and set up your wind gauge.
    • Make sure everyone in your group is ready to start their roles.
    • Record how many times it spins and record it in the table below.
    • Count the number of spins in 15 seconds.
    • Record it on your chart.

    C.I.P

This week in C.I.P it was a bit wet so we started to make a 3D version of our dream house to make the dream house we used tinkered. Tinkered is a great way to help you make your dream house. When I started to make my dream house I thought is was hard but as I got us to it, it got easier. My favorite part of using the app was there were lots of shapes maps and to choose from. The hardest thing about using there was that you had to find the right size shapes for the right size areas. I chose this because it was a lot of shapes to choose from.

In the second half of the day, we went out to the field to plant some plants. First, we got some gloves and there we got the plant and the shovel and we dug a hole size of a bucket than we put the plant in the hole and filed it in without killing the plant.

    In the holidays

Today I am going to share two high lights in my holidays. I was very excited because we were off school for two weeks. In the first week of the holidays, I went to my nanas house on Monday an Tuesday because my mum was working. For the rest of the week, I stayed at home and I was getting really excited for the last week of the holidays because I was going to Auckland as I was getting more and more excited It was time.

On Tuesday I woke up at 4:30 am I was really tired me and my dad went to the airport we got on the plane, on the plane was fun we got food like biscuits and more when we got there my dads friend picked us up and we went to a truck we got in the truck and we got food. After that we had to drive to wellington and driving there took nine hours. We stopped every two hours to some time get food or go to the bathroom. when we got there at 9:00 pm we had to wait until 11:00 pm to get on the ferry so we sat there trying to go to sleep but could not so we waited and waited. Then we got on we got out of the truck and we went to our room and went to sleep.
